AOD9604 (Anti-Obesity Drug 9604) is a 16-amino acid synthetic peptide developed in the laboratory of Professor Frank Ng at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. It corresponds to amino acids 176–191 of the human growth hormone (hGH) sequence, with a tyrosine substitution at the N-terminus to improve stability. The compound was designed to isolate the lipolytic properties of full-length hGH without reproducing its anabolic, diabetogenic, or IGF-1-elevating activity.
The primary body of preclinical work has focused on adipose tissue metabolism, fat oxidation, and beta-adrenergic signaling in rodent obesity models.
